Kelantan ustaz claims trial to sexually assaulting 2 boys, making child porn
PETALING JAYA: An ustaz pleaded not guilty in the Pasir Mas magistrates’ court in Kelantan today to four charges involving the sexual assault of two boys and producing child pornography.
Faiz Ramly, 31, entered his plea before magistrate Syed Farid Syed Ali, Bernama reported.
On the first and second charges, Faiz is accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy at Madrasah Kuning at Jeli Lama in Jeli between 1.10pm and 5pm on May 9.
On the third and fourth charges, he is accused of sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy and producing child pornography involving the child at a house at Kampung Layat, Jeli, earlier this month.
The first three charges were framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
The fourth charge was framed under Section 5 of the same Act for producing child pornography, which carries a penalty of up to 30 years’ imprisonment and a minimum of six strokes of the rotan upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Siti Aiysha Nai’lah Harizan, while Faiz was represented by lawyer Zaem Ab Aziz.
The court denied Faiz bail and fixed June 10 for mention of the case.
