KL archdiocese flags fake poster on ‘DAP cash aid’ for Christians
PETALING JAYA: A viral poster claiming that a “DAP cash aid” programme is available to Christians in Malaysia is fake, says the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.
Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur chancellor Clarence Devadass said the poster, which features KL Archbishop Julian Leow, does not contain genuine or verified information.
“The circulation of misleading content can cause unnecessary confusion and undermine public trust. We strongly urge the public to exercise caution when encountering unverified material online.
“We encourage everyone to rely exclusively on official channels for updates and information. Any announcements or statements will be issued directly through our official channels only,” he said in a statement.
The poster claimed that the aid programme was for Christians seeking to be trained as clergymen and requiring financial assistance.
The poster, which appears to have been generated by artificial intelligence, featured Leow and an emblem with the words “Unifor Malaysia”.
Unifor is the acronym of the Sarawak government’s Unit for Other Religions, which oversees the affairs of non-Muslim faiths. There is no Unifor Malaysia.
