Malaysia Healthcare deepens trust among Jakarta patients through Malaysia Fair 2026
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is strengthening its position as a preferred healthcare destination for Indonesian patients, supported by strong regional demand and long-standing confidence in the country’s medical ecosystem.
Indonesia is the largest market for Malaysia’s medical tourism, accounting for more than 60 per cent of all international medical tourists in 2023.
The sustained inflow is attributed to internationally benchmarked quality of care, competitive pricing and a healthcare system designed around patient convenience.
HEALING MEETS HOSPITALITY
With Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT2026) now underway, the country is reinforcing its global positioning through the ‘Healing Meets Hospitality’ proposition, especially among Jakarta patients and neighbouring Nusantara countries.
With MYMT 2026, Malaysia is not just emphasising clinical outcomes, but is offering an end-to-end patient journey wrapped in hospitality.
This includes structured support services such as MHTC Concierge and Lounge, and Meet & Greet services, which aim to ease travel logistics and improve comfort for international patients from arrival to recovery.
The ecosystem is further strengthened by a network of 82 member hospitals, including Malaysia’s Flagship Medical Tourism Hospitals (FMTH), which continue to uphold consistent standards of quality, specialised care, and patient experience across the healthcare travel ecosystem.
MYMT2026 also aligns with the Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative, integrating healthcare with tourism to enhance the overall recovery experience.
Specialised treatments, particularly in fertility care and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), continue to be key growth areas, due to competitive success rates and a more personalised care environment.

Adding to this momentum is a strategic collaboration with singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, which aims to strengthen emotional connection and trust among Indonesian audiences.
“Many people know that I underwent IVF treatment to conceive, so friends from Malaysia and Indonesia often ask me where the best places are to get IVF treatment. Hence, I feel a sense of responsibility to also share my experience through my involvement at Malaysia Fair.
“The truth is, we have many excellent hospitals offering high-quality IVF services. I’m proud to be Malaysian,” she said, noting that she has fans and acquaintances from abroad who visit Malaysia solely for health screenings.
At its core, Malaysia continues to position itself as a healthcare destination that combines clinical excellence with genuine hospitality.
