Malaysia to take Israeli abuses during Gaza flotilla mission to international court

SEPANG: Malaysia will bring allegations of torture, violence and inhumane treatment involving participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) Gaza humanitarian mission to international court, while continuing diplomatic pressure against the Israeli authorities.

Malaysian Emergency Relief Mission to Gaza chief and GSF 2.0 delegation leader Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said Malaysia would pursue legal action and intensify diplomatic efforts following claims of abuse faced by the international delegation during the operation.

“Not once, not twice (but more times) were they tortured. We will bring this matter to the international courts.

“We will continue diplomatic pressure and we will travel throughout Malaysia to provide briefings to the public,” he said after the arrival of 28 Malaysian delegates at Kuala Lumpur International Airport tonight.

Amirudin, who is Selangor menteri besar, said activists who are willing to risk their lives to deliver aid to Gaza will continue to be mobilised to bring Malaysia’s voice to the global stage.

He said the struggle to defend Palestine is no longer merely a slogan or solidarity gatherings, but has been translated into real sacrifice by Malaysians.

“Today it is proven that Malaysians are willing to risk everything for humanity and to free Gaza from the evils of the Zionists that have persisted for decades,” he said.

He said there were systematic attempts to derail the mission, including the spread of false information, physical attacks on delegates, and pressure on participants’ family members.

The 28 Malaysians who joined the GSF 2.0 mission safely arrived at KLIA, welcomed by Amirudin and the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby, as well as family members and supporters who began gathering from 8pm.

The delegation had previously departed from Istanbul International Airport in Turkiye at 2.21am local time before transiting in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and continuing their journey home.

However, one Malaysian participant, Razman Mat Ali, was unable to return with the rest of the delegation as he is still receiving treatment in Istanbul after reportedly suffering a traumatic pneumothorax (collapsed lung) caused by being assaulted by Israeli forces.
