Military production minister calls for expanding industrial cooperation to boost local manufacturing

Salah Gombalat, Minister of State for Military Production, held a meeting with chairpersons of affiliated companies and units to review progress on ongoing projects, assess implementation rates, and monitor development plans across entities under the ministry’s umbrella.

During the meeting, Gombalat stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with the private sector and expanding industrial and investment partnerships, saying such efforts would maximise the use of the technical, technological, and human capabilities available within military production companies.

He noted that deeper cooperation would help increase production capacity, support localisation efforts, and generate greater added value for the national economy.

The minister also underscored the need to make better use of existing partnerships with companies specialising in technology transfer and joint manufacturing, with the aim of localising advanced industrial technologies in line with the state’s strategy to deepen domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports.

Gombalat emphasised the importance of adhering to project timelines, alongside continuous monitoring of implementation rates and addressing obstacles that could delay execution. He said disciplined project delivery remains a key pillar in achieving broader development and modernisation objectives.

He further called for increased support for research and development activities within affiliated companies, describing R&D as the “driving force” behind industrial development and a critical engine for innovation.

According to the minister, encouraging new ideas and drawing on national expertise and technical capabilities would play an important role in product development and improving competitiveness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Gombalat urged heads of affiliated companies and units to maintain a collaborative working approach and motivate employees to intensify efforts during the coming period, supporting the ministry’s objectives and Egypt’s broader ambition to build an advanced and competitive industrial base.
