Millwall Block Azeez From Super Eagles Friendlies Amid Transfer Interest

Sky Bet Championship club Millwall have reportedly prevented winger Femi Azeez from joining the Super Eagles squad for upcoming friendly matches against Poland and Portugal.

Azeez had earned a late call-up after impressive performances during the Unity Cup invitational tournament, where he announced himself in spectacular fashion by scoring twice on his international debut against Zimbabwe.

The 24-year-old was drafted into the squad as a replacement for Samuel Chukwueze and had been expected to feature prominently in the forthcoming fixtures.

However, reports indicate that Millwall decided against releasing the winger due to ongoing transfer developments surrounding the player.

The Lions are understood to be protecting one of their most valuable assets after recently rejecting a reported €20 million offer from newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town.

Interest in Azeez continues to grow, with Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion also believed to be monitoring the former Watford player.

Millwall’s stance highlights the increasingly delicate balance clubs face between supporting international commitments and safeguarding players involved in high-profile transfer discussions.

Azeez’s rapid rise has attracted widespread attention following an impressive campaign and his memorable introduction to international football.

His pace, direct running and eye for goal have made him one of the most exciting emerging Nigerian talents, with several clubs viewing him as a player capable of succeeding at the highest level.

While his absence may disappoint Super Eagles supporters, the situation underscores the uncertainty that often surrounds transfer windows, particularly when clubs seek to protect prized assets from potential injury or disruption during negotiations.
