Nasarawa: Wadada wants ex-IGP Adamu back in APC
All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has appealled to retired Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, who contested the primary but has since defected from the APC, to return to the party.
Wadada made the appeal during a thank-you Governor Abdullahi Sule accompanied by a delegation of APC chieftains, government appointees, and supporters.
He said if Wadada returns to the APC, he will be doing it in the interest of Nasarawa State just as his own victory belongs to the people.
“I call on him to learn from me, because I have been here in the terrain of politics before him. When and if he does that, he is not doing it for Wadada but rather doing it for Nasarawa State. We have no state other than Nasarawa State,” Wadada said.
Earlier, Governor Abdullahi Sule used the occasion express concern about the political tension building up in the state.
“All those who are contesting against us are not our enemies. They also believe in Nasarawa State. They also want to come and contribute. So as we approach them, let us approach them with caution, not with hatred. Let us approach them with love,” Gov Sule said.
The Governor described the occasion as historic, noting that future Days of Arafat would be remembered for Wadada’s visit. He congratulated all APC candidates who emerged from the primaries at various levels, including President Bola Tinubu, and expressed confidence that Wadada would be the next governor.
He also outlined his expectations for Wadada’s administration, saying he would not interfere with appointments but would speak up if the incoming government deviated from the right path.
“It is not my responsibility to go and start appointing people for him. He knows the people that he knows. He should be able to do that on his own without my interference. But he will hear my interference if he is not doing the right thing,” Sule said.
The governor said Wadada would have the advantage of a more stable resource base than he had in 2019, and prayed that he would surpass his achievements in office.
