PETALING JAYA: Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King failed to make it an all-Malaysian affair in the men’s doubles final at the Malaysia Masters after losing to Danish pair Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard today.

The world No 16 Malaysian pair lost 19-21, 17-21 to their world No 19 opponents in 48 minutes.

It was the first win for the Danes in three encounters against Arif-Roy King.

Despite their defeat, the Malaysians can take heart knowing that they have reached two semi-finals in the BWF World Tour Super 500 series to date.

Lundgaard-Vestergaard will face another Malaysian pair, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, in the final tomorrow.

Last year’s men’s doubles final was an all-Malaysian affair, with Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun lifting the title after defeating Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in three games.

In the first semi-final earlier today, Sze Fei-Izzuddin shocked top seeds Aaron-Wooi Yik in straight games.
