No US-Iran deal expected today as talks drag on

No agreement between the United States and Iran is expected to be signed today, as negotiations continue over unresolved details, according to multiple media reports.

CNN cited a senior US administration official as saying talks remain ongoing, with key elements of the deal still under discussion.

Another official told the network that Iran has agreed in principle to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and dispose of its stockpile of enriched uranium. CBS News also reported that Tehran has accepted the uranium provision in principle, citing a senior source.

Axios reporter Barak Ravid said a senior Trump official confirmed that a deal will not be finalised today due to continued back-and-forth over certain terms, adding that approval could take several more days.

“Our understanding is that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei approved the broad template of the agreement, but whether this will turn into a final agreement is still an open question,” the official told Ravid.
