#NSTviral: Heartwarming rescue of monkey on rain-lashed highway goes viral [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A touching video documenting the rescue of a dusky leaf monkey found stranded in the middle of a busy highway in Kulai, Johor during a heavy downpour has gone viral.

The story gained traction after veterinarian Dr Marlia Zulkapli shared the journey of the monkey, which was discovered on the road in torrential rain.

Despite reports that the monkey had actually been run over, it appeared to be in good shape and showed no signs of serious injury following the incident.

One of the most moving aspects of the rescue was the unexpected cooperation shown by other motorists on the expressway.

Dr Marlia said that the traffic seemed to part naturally to allow the rescue to take place safely.

“The best part was how all the cars seemed to understand the situation. Suddenly the road cleared, and there wasn’t much noise. It was as if God had decreed that everyone must give way today.

“It seems its life was meant to be longer. We were just lucky to be the ones who could provide the path to safety” She said.

Despite being a wild animal, the monkey remained calm throughout the ordeal.

Footage shared by the vet showed the monkey sitting quietly on a passenger’s lap during the car ride, appearing to trust its rescuers.

Tak ada dalam job description vet pun benda ni tapi takpe lah Yang bestnya, kereta semua macam faham situasi tiba-tiba clear jalan, tak banyak bising. Macam Allah dah tetapkan semua orang kena bagi laluan dulu hari ni. Rezeki dia panjang lagi rupanya. Rezeki kita dapat jadi jalan. ️ #WildlifeRescue #LotongSelamat #VetLifeUnexpected #wemissyouwukong #doctorvet Comic music for funny videos ii (The Wanky Pete show) – The Bimpoes Cartoons

Later updates showed the monkey safely housed in a cage, looking alert and contentedly snacking on a piece of fruit.

The post has since been flooded with comments from netizens who were moved by both the rescue and the rare display of patience from Malaysian drivers.

“Faith in humanity restored. It’s not often you see everyone on a highway agree to slow down and give way for a small life,” commented a user.

“The way the monkey just sat on the lap, it knew it was in safe hands. Thank you to the kind souls who stopped to help in such bad weather,” A netizen said.

The video continues to circulate across social media platforms, serving as an inspiration to many.
