Oyo Police Dismiss Rumours Of Curfew, Movement Restriction In Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed rumours of an alleged curfew and movement restriction in Ibadan, the state capital, assuring residents that there is no security situation warranting panic.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said on Sunday that no curfew or restriction had been placed on the movement of persons or vehicles within or outside Ibadan, contrary to reports circulating in some quarters.

The command assured residents and the general public that there were no security concerns requiring apprehension, adding that adequate security measures had already been put in place across the state.

According to the police spokesperson, officers and operatives of the command have been strategically deployed to ensure the safety and security of residents.

Olayinka warned individuals and groups against spreading false information, rumours or unverified reports capable of creating panic, fear and emotional distress among members of the public.

“Anyone found engaging in such acts will be investigated and made to face the full wrath of the law,” he said.

“The public is advised to disregard such misleading reports and continue with their lawful activities without fear.

“The command reiterates that in the event of any official security directive, restriction or emergency measure, such information will be communicated through the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer and disseminated via conventional and digital media platforms bearing verifiable identities and official channels,” he added.

He urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and cooperative with security agencies in the collective effort to maintain peace and public order across Oyo State.
