Plateau: Unity possible despite challenges – Jos Chief Imam

Chief Imam of Jos Central Mosque, Sheik Ghazali Isma’il, has called on people in Plateau State to unite and live peacefully with one another regardless of their political or religious affiliation.

He said unity is the only way to ensure peace within and outside the state.

Sheik Ismail made the call on Friday during a prayer session, marking the third anniversary of the Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration, held at the Jos Central Mosque.

According to the Imam, meaningful societies thrive only in communities where peace and unity are common.

He added that for the state to be developed, government must have a conducive environment to enable it to execute sustainable projects.

“I call on all people of the state to put hands on deck to ensure unity and progress of Plateau and the country at large. Whichever development we are hoping is only possible when there is peace and harmony. We have to be brothers’ keepers to enable us forget our differences and pray for development, “ Sheik Isma’il said.

The Chief Imam stressed that leaders need prayers rather than condemnation , warning that anything short of this would harm society.

He therefore called on people to supplicate to Allah for leaders’ guidance and success.

Sheikh Ismail, however, prayed to Allah to grant the state a favorable rainy season to enable farmers to participate in this year’s farming activities, explaining that with rainfall the country would be able to produce enough food for both commercial and domestic use.
