Police confirm two more killed in Kuala Krai Alphard-Bezza crash, raising death toll to three

Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 — Two more victims of a crash involving a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua Bezza along Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai this morning have died, including a one-year-old girl.

The infant, Nur Nuha Helena Abd Matin, and her mother, 22-year-old Jasmin Lyana Mohd Jamil, died while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Ismail Petra (HSIP), police said to Berita Harian.

Kuala Krai deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Maizan Mustaffa said the latest deaths bring the toll from the 7.15am crash to three.

Earlier, 52-year-old Safinaz Razmi, who was seated in the rear passenger seat of the Perodua Bezza, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Jasmin Lyana, who was Safinaz’s daughter, died at 9.59am due to severe head injuries, while her baby died at about 4.40pm,” he said, as reported by the national daily.

He added that the driver of the Perodua Bezza, who is Jasmin Lyana’s husband, remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment at the same hospital.

Mohd Maizan said initial investigations found that the Perodua Bezza, carrying the family of four, is believed to have been overtaking another vehicle before colliding with the Toyota Alphard.

Earlier reports said one woman was killed and five others, including two children, were injured in the crash near the Caltex Laloh petrol station.

The Toyota Alphard was carrying six passengers, including two boys who were injured, while the Perodua Bezza had four occupants.
