PTML Customs g enerates N178bn

The Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded over N178 billion in revenue collection, highlighting improved trade operations and compliance at one of the country’s busiest vehicle import terminals.
The disclosure was made by the outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Joseph Anani, during the official handover ceremony to the newly deployed Acting Controller, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, in Lagos.
Anani said the command achieved the revenue feat within his eight-month tenure, during which the command also consolidated the implementation of the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.
According to him, the digital customs platform helped stabilise cargo processing operations after the initial rollout phase, contributing to improved efficiency in port operations and revenue generation.
He noted that the command also introduced a one-hour clearance process for compliant vehicle imports, a development aimed at reducing cargo dwell time and enhancing ease of doing business at the port.
“Beyond revenue generation, the command strengthened enforcement activities through the interception and transfer of illicit drugs, arms and ammunition to agencies including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons,” he said.

Speaking after assuming office, Miko pledged to sustain operational efficiency and deepen trade facilitation through transparency, integrity and strict adherence to due process.

The new controller said his administration would prioritise collaboration with freight forwarders, terminal operators and other stakeholders to ensure seamless port operations and improved service delivery.

Anani has since been redeployed to the Tin Can Island Port Command.
