Rapid KL deploys extra staff, keeps free buses and alternative trains running as Ampang-Sri Petaling repair works continue
KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 — Rapid KL said alternative train services and free shuttle buses will remain active until the end of today following the derailment near Chan Sow Lin station that disrupted services on the Ampang–Sri Petaling Line earlier this morning.
In a statement today, the rail operator said repair works were still ongoing, while additional personnel had been deployed across affected stations to assist commuters and manage crowd movement.
“Repair works are still actively ongoing,” Rapid KL said, adding that “alternative train services and shuttle buses remain active until the end of operating hours”.
The operator said trains from Sentul Timur would turn back at Pudu every four minutes, while trains from Putra Heights would terminate at Bandar Tasik Selatan at six-minute intervals.
It also activated several shuttle train services between affected stations, including Bandar Tasik Selatan and Cheras, Ampang and Maluri, as well as Maluri and Chan Sow Lin.
Free shuttle bus services are also operating between Hang Tuah, Pudu, Chan Sow Lin and Cheras stations, as well as between Hang Tuah and Pandan Jaya via several affected stations, with buses arriving every 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Passengers were advised to use alternative rail routes or other transport options, including the Putrajaya Line via Sungai Besi station, to reduce travel delays.
“To ensure the safety and smooth movement of passengers, auxiliary police officers, station personnel and Rapid Troopers have been deployed at station platforms and concourse areas to assist commuters,” the statement said.
Rapid KL also urged commuters to plan their journeys earlier and monitor its official social media channels and the MyRapid PULSE app for the latest updates.
Earlier today, Rapid KL confirmed that one of its trains had derailed while passing a railway switch near Chan Sow Lin station. No injuries were reported, and all 25 passengers on board were safely evacuated.
