Readers respond: Fight Trump with voters’ self interest

President Donald Trump’s voters are able to suspend their common sense to support him, no matter how egregious his actions, because they have swallowed his nonsense that immigration, women’s and gay rights, environmentalism and reproductive freedom somehow threaten their existence. They believe that supporting him will benefit them personally, while upholding their ideology of racism and bigotry.
