RTD seizes national footballer’s Toyota Vellfire over expired road tax, insurance
ALOR STAR: A luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) belonging to a national footballer was seized during a luxury vehicle special operation on Thursday.
Kedah Road Transport Department (RTD) director Stien Van Lutam said the Toyota Vellfire was driven by the footballer’s brother-in-law and was stopped in front of the Alor Star Prison about 11.30am.
“Action was taken after it was found that the vehicle had expired road tax and no insurance coverage.
“The driver claimed he was unaware that the road tax had expired, and further investigations are ongoing,” he said here today.
Stien said the special operation was carried out by the department’s Motorcycle Enforcement Unit to ensure all vehicle owners comply with road regulations and laws, regardless of status or background.
He said Kedah RTD would continue to intensify enforcement operations to ensure compliance with the law at all times.
