Taraba: Senator Tutare, Emmanuel Bwacha clinch ADC, PDP, guber tickets

Senator Abubakar Umar Tutare and Senator Emmanuel Bwacha have emerged as the governorship candidates for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, respectively.
The returning officer for the ADC, Arch. Kupchi Hosea Maxwell, announced that Senator Tutare emerged victorious in the party’s governorship primaries unopposed. He also announced the winners of the Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly primaries.
Maxwell disclosed that while some candidates won through consensus, others advanced via direct primaries. He commended all contestants for their maturity, which he noted enabled the peaceful conduct of the primary elections across the state.
However, he clarified that no certificates of return would be issued to the winners until the appeal committee concludes its assignment of entertaining complaints from aggrieved contestants.
In a similar development, the PDP leadership affirmed Senator Emmanuel Bwacha through a voice vote, where an overwhelming response confirmed him as the party’s sole governorship candidate. He was automatically returned elected after meeting all requisite qualifications.
In his acceptance speech, Senator Bwacha praised the party for conducting a free, fair, and open primary election. He urged citizens to keep faith with the party despite ongoing distractions.
“The development indices in the state have fallen to the lowest in history. This is unacceptable,” Bwacha said. “Taraba State belongs to all of us, and the state’s resources must not end up in the pockets of a few individuals while the vast majority wallows in poverty and want. We will rise up and take what is ours.”
