BATU PAHAT, June 2 — A 19-year-old male teenager has been remanded for two days starting today to assist in investigations into a fatal accident that claimed five lives, including four members of a family, on Jalan Renggam-Simpang Renggam here yesterday.

The remand order until tomorrow was issued by Magistrate Mustaqim Sukarno at the Batu Pahat Magistrates’ Court to enable further investigations to be carried out under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Earlier, the suspect, who was the driver of a Mercedes-Benz A250 and dressed in a brown lockup attire, arrived at the court premises at about 10.20am accompanied by police officers.
