Tinubu Set For Historic State House Press Corps Dinner

President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend the inaugural Annual Dinner of the State House Press Corps (SHPC), a landmark event aimed at fostering closer engagement between the media and the highest levels of government.

The event, tagged The Presidential Press Corps Annual Dinner, will hold on June 19, 2026, at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Originally scheduled for June 4, the dinner was rescheduled to June 19, according to a statement issued on Monday by the chairman of the State House Press Corps, Dr. Anule Emmanuel.

The SHPC, which comprises journalists accredited to cover the President’s activities and the Presidency, said the maiden edition of the annual dinner was designed to celebrate excellence in presidential reporting.

According to the organisers, the event will provide a relaxed atmosphere where President Tinubu will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with journalists who cover his administration daily from the Presidential Villa.

The corps described the dinner as a historic milestone, noting that it would, for the first time, bring together leading figures in Nigeria’s media industry to honour journalists reporting from the State House beat.

“This event marks a historic milestone for the State House Press Corps. For the first time, we are bringing together the crème de la crème of Nigeria’s media industry to honour the dedicated professionals who report from the Villa — a beat that is often demanding and rarely offers public recognition,” the statement said.

A major highlight of the event will be the formal recognition of President Tinubu as the Grand Patron of the State House Press Corps. He is expected to be decorated during the dinner ceremony.

Other high-profile dignitaries expected at the event include Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and several state governors.

The organisers expressed optimism that the dinner would strengthen the relationship between the Presidency and the media while recognising the contributions of journalists covering one of the most demanding beats in the country.
