[UPDATED] Johor declares Monday a special holiday after JDT’s Malaysia Cup triumph
JOHOR BARU: The Johor government has declared Monday (May 25) as a special public holiday in celebration of Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) Malaysia Cup 2025/26 victory last night.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the declaration was made with the consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail.
“Upon the consent of His Royal Highness the Regent of Johor, the state government has agreed to declare Monday, May 25, 2026, as a special holiday for Johor in conjunction with JDT’s Malaysia Cup 2025/26 triumph,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, the Southern Tigers secured the title after defeating Kuching City FC 2-0 in a thrilling final.
Onn Hafiz also expressed his gratitude to Tunku Mahkota Ismail for his leadership and continuous efforts in elevating Johor football to international prominence.
He described the victory as a meaningful gift for all Johoreans and JDT supporters.
“This victory is a gift to the people of Johor and the JDT faithful who have stood firmly behind the team through thick and thin, in every match, every season,” he said.
He also thanked the players, coaching staff, management, and the wider JDT family for the achievement.
The latest success further cements JDT’s dominance as the country’s football powerhouse.
