WCE upgrades app with real-time traffic and AI features
KLANG: West Coast Expressway (WCE) has upgraded its mobile application with enhanced digital features aimed at improving motorists’ travel experience along the highway.
It said the upgraded application integrates live traffic monitoring, navigation support and digital assistance into a single platform to help users plan journeys more efficiently.
“The new features include live closed-circuit television (CCTV) traffic viewing and real-time incident alerts through the “traffic update” function,” it said in a statement.
WCE said the application also features an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered “WCE Assistant”, route navigation support and a toll rate calculator based on entry and exit plazas as well as vehicle class.
It added that motorists can also use the application to locate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, rest and recreation (R&R) areas, toll plazas and emergency telephones along the highway.
The app also helps users locate tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants along the highway through integrated navigation support.
WCE managing director Lyndon Alfred Felix said the enhancement is part of the company’s efforts to improve highway services through digital technology and innovation.
“We want to ensure WCE users enjoy a smoother and safer journey while having access to accurate information at all times,” he said.
He said the live CCTV feature enables motorists to monitor traffic conditions for better travel planning and time management.
“The traffic update feature also allows users to receive real-time alerts on accidents, road closures and traffic disruptions directly through the application,” he said.
WCE said the application has recorded close to 20,000 downloads to date.
The 233km WCE highway stretches from Banting, Selangor, to Taiping in Perak.
