NASCAR legend Kyle Busch died suddenly from complications from sepsis developed after a severe case of pneumonia. NBC’s Dr. John Torres joins TODAY with insight into what may have caused the rapid decline in health, how common sepsis is and how an illness like pneumonia can turn into sepsis. “It happens more frequently than more people realize…As a matter of fact, 1 in 3 people that die in a hospital had sepsis at some point during their hospital stay,” he says.
