نجحت عملية إنقاذ عالمية في حماية معبدي أبو سمبل من الغرق تحت مياه بحيرة ناصر.
تضمنت العملية تفكيك المعبدين إلى كتل حجرية ونقلهما وإعادة تشييدهما بدقة هندسية عالية.
حافظت عملية الإنقاذ على ظاهرة تعامد الشمس على قدس الأقداس التي تعكس عبقرية المصري القديم.
أُدرجت آثار النوبة على قائمة التراث العالمي لليونسكو تقديراً لقيمتها الثقافية والتاريخية الاستثنائية.
