خسر إيلون ماسك تأثيره السياسي بعد إنفاقه 446 مليون دولار لدعم المرشحين الجمهوريين في انتخابات التجديد النصفي.
فقد الجمهوريون السيطرة على مجلسي الكونغرس، وفازت ديمقراطية في ولاية تكساس التي تضم مقرات شركات ماسك.
تراجعت أسهم شركتي تسلا وسبيس إكس عقب الهزيمة الانتخابية للجمهوريين.
يواجه ماسك تحديات جديدة تتعلق بتشديد الرقابة على مشروعات مراكز البيانات من قبل الديمقراطيين.

تحول الإنفاق الانتخابي لرجل الأعمال الثري إيلون ماسك -وهو إنفاق تاريخي يبلغ نحو نصف مليار دولار- إلى مفارقة صادمة؛ إذ عجزت ثروة أغنى رجل عالميا عن إنقاذ الجمهوريين في انتخابات التجديد النصفي للكونغرس.
