تواجه النيجر تحديات أمنية متصاعدة وهجمات متكررة من جماعات مسلحة على حدودها مع سبع دول.
تتأثر استقرار البلاد ومسارات تجارة النفط والغاز واليورانيوم بسبب موقعها الاستراتيجي كدولة حبيسة.
تغيرت خريطة التحالفات الدولية في النيجر بعد انسحاب القوات الفرنسية والأمريكية وتزايد النفوذ الروسي والصيني.
تعد النيجر من أهم منتجي اليورانيوم عالميا وتضم خطوط أنابيب نفط طويلة تمر عبر أراضيها.
