هكذا يؤثر “الجيريماندرينغ”.. ليس بالأصوات وحدها تُحسم انتخابات الكونغرس

ما يعرفه ريفو عن الخبر

تؤثر عملية إعادة رسم الدوائر الانتخابية المعروفة بالجيريماندرينغ على نتائج انتخابات الكونغرس الأمريكي وتغير فرص الأحزاب في حصد المقاعد.
تتم عملية التلاعب بالحدود عبر تجميع ناخبي المنافسين في دوائر قليلة أو تشتيتهم بين دوائر عديدة لضمان أفضلية انتخابية.
تؤدي إعادة ترسيم الحدود إلى تغيير هوية النائب الممثل للمجتمعات وتغيير توزيع المقاعد دون تغيير في عدد الأصوات الإجمالية.
تعدل الولايات حدود دوائرها كل عشر سنوات بناءً على التعداد السكاني، لكن الجدل يثور عند استخدامها لمنح طرف أفضلية سياسية.

تحدث إعادة ترسيم حدود الدوائر الانتخابية تغييرات كبيرة في حظوظ المرشحين، لكنها ليست مرتبطة بالتلاعب دائما، إذ تعيد الولايات رسم حدود دوائرها الانتخابية بعد التعداد السكاني الذي يُجرى كل 10 سنوات.
