كشفت دراسة فيزيائية عن قوة انفجار قنبلة أم القنابل الأمريكية في أفغانستان عام 2017 والتي بلغت نحو 14 طنا من مادة تي إن تي.
استخدم الباحثون الموجات تحت الصوتية التي سجلتها محطة رصد في باكستان على بعد 249 كيلومترا لتقدير القوة التفجيرية بدقة عالية.
تعتمد هذه التقنية على تحليل خصائص الموجات التي تنتشر عبر الغلاف الجوي وتتأثر بالظروف الجوية لتحديد قوة وموقع الانفجار.
تثبت هذه الدراسة إمكانية مراقبة الانفجارات والأحداث الجوية في الحالات التي يصعب فيها الوصول إلى موقع الانفجار أو إجراء قياسات مباشرة.

على بُعد نحو 249 كيلومترا من موقع انفجار قنبلة "أم القنابل" الأمريكية في أفغانستان عام 2017، رصد باحثون في باكستان الموجات تحت الصوتية الناتجة عن الانفجار.
