3 Petronas contractors died from impact injuries or drowning

KUALA TERENGGANU: Impact-related injuries and drowning were among the causes of death of three Petronas contractors after the lifeboat they were in plunged into the sea at the Sepat floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility in the waters of Kuala Terengganu yesterday.

Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Mohd Noor said the post-mortem results showed that the first victim, Nik Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 38, died from serious abdominal injuries caused by a strong impact.

Faezuan Hakim Bustamam, 28, died from neck injuries, while Ahmad Fiqri Zakaria, 38, died from drowning, he said.

Azli said the post-mortems were conducted from 10am to 2.15pm today, after which their remains were claimed by their families.

An injured worker, Taufik Ruslan, 37, is being treated at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital here.
