Buffalo attack: Man climbs into four-wheel drive before being rushed to hospital [WATCH]
JOHOR BARU: A man who died after being gored by a buffalo during korban preparations in Kampung Tenang, Ulu Tiram yesterday was able to walk to a four-wheel-drive vehicle before collapsing.
The victim’s niece, who wished to be known only as Mira, in her 30s, said Ahmad Shah Meerasa, 45, still managed to make his way despite suffering severe injuries to his thigh.
She said the attack caused the victim, a father of three, to be thrown and lose a significant amount of blood, but he still walked to the vehicle, climbed into the back and lay down before being rushed to hospital.
“At the time of the incident, some family members were eating while others were washing dishes. The deceased and several others were trying to tie the buffalo.
“The buffalo suddenly became agitated and turned around before goring his thigh until his trousers were torn up to the upper part,” she said when contacted.
She said the 10am incident also left two others injured after being dragged, while the buffalo has not yet been slaughtered as villagers remain shocked by the incident.
She said her uncle was only helping with preparations for a korban ceremony involving seven siblings, including the victim.
The man was confirmed dead at 11pm at Sultanah Aminah Hospital due to vascular injuries to the left leg.
Police classified the case as sudden death (SDR) and confirmed no criminal elements were detected.
The case has been referred to the Johor Veterinary Services Department.
