EastEnders wedding drama confirmed as Max drops shock proposal on Cindy
EastEnders has promised that next week’s special set of episodes will ‘change everything’ – and it seems that includes revealing one of their biggest secrets about the New Year’s Day flashforward.
Since January 1st, fans have been left guessing who the mystery bride is that Max Branning (Jake Wood) is set to walk down the aisle with in 2027.
Among the potential brides teased during the episode were Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
And it looks like the blushing bride will be… none other than Cindy!
That’s because, next week, Max takes surprising action when he sees red over the criticism of his relationship with the Walford siren.
During Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall’s (Alex Walkinshaw) wedding reception, Max is clearly inspired by the romance in the air and takes to the microphone.
He then makes a huge declaration by telling everyone how much he loves Cindy, before asking her to marry him.
Max’s proposal stuns everyone – not least Cindy, who is rendered speechless.
Given that the pair have only been seeing each other for a few months, it’s a pretty wild development, even by Walford standards. But if Cindy does accept Max’s proposal, there will be a very rocky road ahead for the couple.
The NYD flashforward episode revealed that womaniser Max was up to his old tricks and was cheating on his bride-to-be – even waking up with someone in his bed on the morning of their wedding.
Not only that, but Max’s mystery mistress was also pregnant, presumably with their child.
Now, we all know that Cindy is vengeful to say the least (just ask her ex-husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), who she’s been responsible for shooting twice) – so could it be that she will find out about Max’s affair and secretly seek revenge?

Perhaps, let’s say, even have Max framed and arrested for conspiracy to murder…?
We wouldn’t put anything past her.
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 1st June at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
