Eid-el-Kabir: Wike urges FCT residents to celebrate with love
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged residents of the territory to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir with love, compassion and unity.
Wike made the call in his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message to residents in Abuja on Wednesday.
He assured the Muslim community that the FCT Administration had fully mobilised relevant security agencies to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration.
The minister added that the administration would continue to promote unity and religious harmony in the territory.
He urged residents to show compassion to the less privileged, reject divisive rumours and foster harmony in homes, workplaces, markets and places of worship.
Emphasising the importance of unity, Wike described Abuja as a miniature Nigeria built on peaceful coexistence among different tribes, languages and faiths.
He called on residents to apply the spiritual lessons of Eid-el-Kabir — sacrifice, obedience and selflessness — to civic responsibility in order to help build a world-class city.
“It was a profound reminder of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and willingness to place the common good above personal desire,” he said.
Wike noted that the modern expression of the obedience taught by Eid-el-Kabir required residents to embrace patience, discipline and responsibility.
He urged the public to keep Abuja clean, obey traffic and building regulations, pay taxes promptly and cooperate with security agencies.
The minister reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to the development agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
