Elderly couple seriously injured in SILK Highway crash
KAJANG: An elderly couple suffered serious injuries after their car was hit by a vehicle believed to have been speeding downhill at Km3.5 of the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK) last night.
The crash, which occurred at 9.10pm, left a man, 60, and woman, 61, with serious head injuries.
“The collision also left a 35-year-old man, who was driving the other vehicle, with serious head injuries,” district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said in a statement today.
He said initial investigations revealed that the vehicle was travelling from Kampung Baru Balakong towards Kajang when the driver allegedly lost control while descending a hill.
“The car is believed to have been speeding downhill before the driver lost control and crashed into the couple’s vehicle which was in the middle lane, heading towards Kajang.
The three victims were taken to Sultan Idris Shah Hospital for treatment.
Naazron said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Anyone with information on the incident should contact investigating officer Inspector Saifudin Saadun at 011-2111 9379,” he said.
He also reminded motorists to drive responsibly, comply with traffic regulations and remain alert behind the wheel to avoid accidents.
