The picturesque village of Tihany, located on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, is embracing the future with a digital twist on one of Hungary’s most famous legends. The town has officially launched “Visszhang” (Hungarian for “Echo”), a new AI-powered tourism chatbot designed to help visitors from around the world plan their stay.
Tihany is famous for its mysterious echo phenomenon. On Echo Hill, near the historic Tihany Abbey, stands the so-called Echo Stone, where visitors can call out toward the abbey walls and hear their voices reverberate back, as local folklore claims, even seven times. The legend of the Tihany Echo is now being brought back to life with the help of cutting-edge technology, as the municipality has launched its first official AI-powered travel assistant called “Visszhang.”
As reported by regional news portal veol.hu, the main goal of the new digital assistant is to make the stay as relaxed and informative as possible for day visitors, holidaymakers, and overnight guests alike. The service is available around the clock and supports over 95 languages.
With this, “Visszhang” breaks down language barriers and offers both domestic and foreign guests personalized assistance in their native language.
Whether visitors are looking for events, suitable accommodation, or genuine insider tips for first-time travelers, the chatbot provides the answers within seconds. It offers restaurant and café recommendations tailored to users’ individual needs, provides inspiration for the perfect day, and can even function as a digital guide onsite when needed. The developers promise support that is always “fast, friendly, and useful.”

The smart travel assistant can be accessed through several channels — on the official Tihany website via the chat icon in the lower-right corner, as well as through Messenger on the official Tourinform Tihany Facebook page.
In the near future, the system is expected to be expanded further, with plans to integrate “Visszhang” into various physical hotspots and attractions throughout the village.
