Four family members killed in Johor crash laid to rest in single grave

DUNGUN, June 2 — Four family members, including a 10-year-old girl, who were killed in a five-vehicle crash on Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam in Simpang Renggam, Johor yesterday, were laid to rest this morning.

Mohd Aiman Mohd Rashid, 36; his wife Nor Azlina Abd Latif, 33; her mother Semek Mat Soh, 73; and Mohd Aiman’s niece Nur Airish Syifa Sidek, 10, were buried in a single grave at the Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Muslim Cemetery here at 9.25am.

Earlier, the bodies arrived at Sultan Mahmud Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque at 8.35am for funeral prayers after being brought from Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajah Khalsom in Kluang, Johor, where post-mortem procedures were conducted last night.

More than 200 relatives and friends attended the funeral, which ended at 10.45am.

In the 1.16pm incident yesterday, Mohd Aiman, who lived and worked at an oil palm plantation in Felda Ulu Sedili, Johor, was believed to have been on his way home after attending a family gathering in Telok Emas, Melaka.

The crash is believed to have occurred when a BMW 530e lost control and entered the opposite lane before colliding with the Toyota Vios carrying the family, as well as a Perodua Alza, a Proton Wira and a Mercedes-Benz.

The driver of the BMW 530e also died while being taken to hospital. — Bernama
