JPJ seizes Vellfire linked to ex-national football player, G-Wagon owned by ‘Datuk’ motivational speaker in Bukit Bintang Ops Luxury raid

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized several luxury vehicles, including a Toyota Vellfire linked to a former national footballer and a Mercedes-Benz Brabus G-Wagon owned by a motivational speaker with a Datuk title, during an early-morning enforcement operation in Bukit Bintang.

The operation, carried out under Ops Luxury, targeted high-end vehicles found to be in breach of road regulations.

According to Kosmo! Online, the Vellfire was stopped at about 4am in Bukit Bintang and seized after inspections found multiple offences, including expired road tax and insurance, as well as a lapsed driving licence belonging to the driver.

JPJ deputy director-general (Planning and Operations) Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi said checks showed the vehicle’s road tax had expired since December last year, while the driving licence had also lapsed, adding that the case involved three offences in total.

Separately, JPJ also seized a Mercedes-Benz AMG Brabus G-Wagon belonging to the motivational speaker after it was found without valid insurance and with expired road tax amounting to RM3,221 since May 4, 2026.

Harian Metro reported that the former national footballer had previously won multiple Malaysia Super League titles during his career.

The same report stated that the motivational speaker was detained in the Klang Valley area following the enforcement action.

Harian Metro also added that the motivational speaker’s vehicle was found displaying an incorrect registration number during inspection, despite the owner having reportedly changed the vehicle’s registered number, with the previous plate still being used — an offence under regulations.

Kosmo! Online reported that JPJ has recorded 1,814 luxury vehicle seizures since last year involving various brands.

The highest outstanding road tax recorded involved a Porsche 911 Turbo amounting to RM16,067, while a Bentley was identified as having the longest period of expired road tax since 2023.

Of the total, 899 seizures were recorded in 2025 and 915 in 2026, with Lamborghini also among the brands flagged for non-renewal of road tax.

JPJ said failure to renew road tax is a serious offence under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), stressing that vehicles without valid road tax or insurance pose risks not only to owners but also to other road users.

The department added that it will continue strengthening enforcement through field operations and digital monitoring to ensure compliance among vehicle owners.

Members of the public, particularly luxury vehicle owners, have been urged to renew road tax and insurance through official channels, including the MyJPJ app and MySikap portal.
