Kwara South Excited Over Outcome Of APC Reps’ Primary Election

Stakeholders of the Omupo Constituency in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State, have commended the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.

They described the exercise as transparent, inclusive and a step forward for internal democracy.

Addressing a press conference yesterday on behalf of the stakeholders, Comrade AbdulRahoof Bello Labelabe, expressed appreciation to party members for what they called orderly conduct and massive turnout during the exercise.

“We sincerely appreciate all loyal and dedicated members of our great party for trooping out en masse during the primaries. Your orderly conduct and commitment to internal democracy is highly commendable,” he said.

He noted that the outcome of the primary reflected a long-standing rotational arrangement among the various districts in the constituency, which they said had guided political representation since 1999.

“All other districts and wards except Ora have had the privilege of producing a representative to the State Assembly since the return of democracy in 1999. This exercise has corrected a long-standing imbalance and promotes fairness across the constituency,” he added.

Labelabe described the development as a restoration of equity, adding that the inclusion of Ora in the rotation marked a significant step toward unity and political balance.

Although multiple aspirants participated in the contest, Labelabe maintained that Hon. Lawal Olanrewaju David emerged with a clear lead across polling arrangements, describing his victory as “decisive and widely accepted.”

“The people have spoken clearly. Hon. Lawal Olanrewaju David has convincingly led other contestants by a wide margin. This is a reflection of the collective will of the constituency,” he stated.
