Luis Garcia hails JDT after historic fourth quadruple

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) chief executive Luis Garcia has reminded the Southern Tigers that their historic dominance means nothing if standards slip, after the club sealed a fourth consecutive quadruple with a 2–0 win over Kuching City in the Malaysia Cup final on Saturday.

Garcia, a former Liverpool winger and UEFA Champions League winner,was appointed JDT CEO in January 2024, bringing European pedigree into the club’s management structure.

Since his arrival, JDT have continued their domestic sweep, winning the Super League, FA Cup, Charity Shield and Malaysia Cup in a season where their control rarely wavered.

The Spaniard used his post-season message to underline the mentality expected at the club.

“Four consecutive titles. A historic achievement for Malaysian football. But history alone does not satisfy us,” he wrote.

He credited the team’s consistency to the culture built across years of dominance.

“Four in a row is the result of vision, unity, discipline, hard work, and a winning culture that has been built day by day, season after season.”

Saturday’s final at Bukit Jalil capped another commanding year, with JDT once again completing a clean sweep of all domestic trophies. It also extended their Malaysia Cup streak to four straight titles.

But Garcia stressed that recovery should quickly give way to preparation.

“Now it is time for a well-deserved break and recovery. But soon, we go again.”

“No comfort. No excuses. No looking back. Only the next challenge. Luaskan Kuasamu Johor.”
