Maharashtra Targets Rs 10,000 Crore AI Investment And 1.5 Lakh Jobs By 2031, Announces CM Fadnavis At Mumbai Tech Week 2026

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today unveiled an ambitious roadmap to position the state as India’s leading artificial intelligence hub at Mumbai Tech Week 2026, taking place at Jio World Convention Centre.

The state plans to attract over Rs 10,000 crore in AI investments and create approximately 1.5 lakh jobs by 2031, reinforcing Maharashtra’s commitment to technology-led economic transformation.

The two-day event, themed "India: AI in Action", brings together global technology giants including OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic and Google Cloud.

More than 10,000 developers and technology enthusiasts are expected to attend the gathering, organised by the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai in collaboration with the state government.

Central to the state’s AI strategy is the establishment of six AI Centres of Excellence and five AI Innovation Cities designed to promote research and industry collaboration.

These centres will focus on six key domains: health, agriculture, education, urban development, Marathi language and culture, and finance-revenue, demonstrating the government’s intent to deploy AI across critical sectors.

Fadnavis emphasised that AI must be adopted across every sphere of life, highlighting the state government’s plans to utilise artificial intelligence in agriculture, policing and healthcare.

The Chief Minister also noted the government’s role in showcasing AI-powered governance initiatives and urged organisers to create opportunities connecting Maharashtra’s youth with the global AI sector.

The event features an AI-based job fair where more than 25 companies are expected to participate, offering over 250 job opportunities to more than 30,000 candidates.

Additional highlights include the AI Excellence Awards 2026, an early-stage startup showcase, masterclasses and 14 satellite events across Mumbai, reinforcing the state’s comprehensive approach to building a robust AI ecosystem.
