Malay Mail

SARIKEI. May 24 — A man was found dead at a food premises at the open air market along Jalan Merdeka here on Friday after collapsing from his chair.

Sarikei District Police Chief Supt Aswandy Anis said initial investigations found that the man was earlier believed to have fallen asleep at one of the tables at the food premises at about 4am.

He said the victim was later reported to have collapsed from the chair to the floor at about 8.25am, prompting a nearby shop owner to alert emergency services.

Aswandy said medical personnel later confirmed that the victim had died at the scene before the body was sent to Sarikei Hospital for further action.

“Initial police investigations found no elements of crime involved and the case has been classified as a sudden death.

“The man’s next of kin have been identified and informed about the incident,” he said.

He also advised the public against making speculation on the incident, as it could interfere with police investigations. — The Borneo Post
