Over 3 million vehicles expected on Karak Highway and LPT1 for Aidiladha

KUANTAN: More than three million vehicles are expected to use the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) during the Aidiladha and school holiday period from May 22 to June 2.

Pahang Public Works, Transport and Health Committee chairman Datuk Razali Kassim said KLK was expected to record 2.18 million vehicles, while LPT1 is projected to see 843,000 vehicles over the same period.

He said the figures represented a 66 per cent increase for KLK and 71 per cent for LPT1 compared with normal traffic volumes.

“This significant surge in traffic flow requires all road users to be more disciplined, remain alert and obey traffic laws to ensure a safer and smoother journey throughout the festive season,” he said at a road safety advocacy programme held at the Gambang Rest and Service area here today.

Razali said motorists were advised to plan their journeys early and follow the Travel Time Advisory issued by highway operator AFA Prime Bhd to help ease congestion.

He said that the Road Transport Department (RTD) would carry out the 2026 Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Operation from May 24 to 31, involving 287 enforcement personnel deployed nationwide.
