Pahang MB conveys condolences to families of offshore platform tragedy victims
KUANTAN: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has conveyed his condolences to the families of three contractors who were killed after their lifeboat plunged into the sea off Terengganu-Kelantan waters yesterday.
The 12.50pm incident at the Sepat oil platform claimed the lives of Ahmad Fiqri Zakaria, 38, from Melaka; Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustamam, 28; and Nik Muhammad Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 37, both from Kuantan.
Petronas said investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Wan Rosdy described their deaths while carrying out their duties and responsibilities as a great loss, not only to their families but also to their colleagues and the industry.
“I pray that the souls of all three deceased be blessed with Allah’s mercy, forgiven for all their sins, and placed among the righteous and faithful.
“May the family members of all the victims be granted strength, resilience and patience in facing this very difficult test,” he said in a Facebook post today.
The fourth victim, Mohd Taufik Mohd Ruslan, 37, from Banting, Selangor, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Terengganu.
The remains of Faezuan Hakim and Nik Muhammad Hafifi will be brought to Kuantan later today for burial at the Setali Muslim Cemetery.
