Police arrest suspects who disrupted sallah celebration in Katsina community
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested six suspects for allegedly attacking residents of Keku Village in Musawa Local Government Area during the Sallah celebration.
The command said the suspects allegedly attacked villagers with sticks and machetes on Wednesday at about 2:00 p.m., leaving several residents injured.
Police spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Katsina.
He said operatives of the command’s VCRU responded swiftly and arrested the suspects following a distress report.

The suspects were identified as Dayyabu Salisu, 25; Usama Mansur, 23; Yunusa Nura, 27; Abdulmumini Alka, 23; Buhari Suleiman, 27; and Abubakar Safiyanu, 27.
According to the statement, machetes, sticks and motorcycles were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebration and breach public peace in the area.
“The prompt response of VCRU personnel saved the situation from escalating further,” the statement said.
The injured victims were taken to hospital for treatment and are responding positively, while the suspects will be charged to court after investigation.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ali Umar Fage, condemned the attack and assured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
