RTD inspects 1,662 vehicles in Aidiladha Ops, 206 offences detected

IPOH: A total of 1,662 vehicles were inspected in the first two days of the 2026 Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Operation (Ops HRAA) by the Perak Road Transport Department, with 206 vehicles detected for various traffic offences.

Perak RTD director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan said 510 P22 notices were issued, while urine screening tests on 53 drivers all returned negative results.

He said the top three offences were no motor vehicle licence (139 cases), no insurance (119 cases) and driving without a licence (103 cases).

“Two offences were also detected involving express buses during an undercover operation, where drivers were found continuously using the right lane,” he said at a press conference at the Aman Jaya Bus Terminal here today.

Yusoff said the special operation, running from May 24 to 31, focused on nine major offences linked to road accidents, including speeding, running red lights, overtaking on double lines and mobile phone use while driving.

As a preparatory measure for public transport, he said RTD was also conducting bus inspections at depots from May 24 to 26 to ensure vehicles were in safe condition before carrying passengers.

He said that from January to May this year, 23,287 commercial vehicles were inspected under special operations, with 2,923 enforcement actions taken, including the seizure of 44 vehicles.

He added that the most common offences involved driving without a vocational licence (999 cases), driving without a Competent Driving Licence (772 cases) and overloading (677 cases).

Yusoff said that 60 luxury vehicles had also been seized under enforcement operations, involving offences such as expired road tax, no insurance and driving without a valid licence.
