RTD seizes second vehicle linked to ex-national footballer

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Road Transport Department (RTD) has seized another vehicle belonging to a former national footballer, a day after a Toyota Vellfire linked to the ex-player was confiscated in Bukit Bintang.

This time, a Ford Raptor belonging to him was stopped during a roadblock under the 2026 Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Operation along Jalan Sultan Mohamad here at 4.20pm today.

The former player had made his name as the Malaysia Cup’s top scorer while representing Terengganu in the 2006 season.

Terengganu RTD director Mohd Zamri Samion said checks found that the vehicle’s road tax had expired since January last year.

“Checks showed the vehicle’s road tax expired in January last year and has yet to be renewed,” he told reporters after leading the operation today.

He said RTD viewed offences involving expired road tax and other traffic violations seriously as they could create complications in the event of accidents or other incidents.

Zamri said enforcement efforts would continue to be intensified to ensure all motorists, including luxury vehicle owners, complied with road regulations.

He said that Terengganu RTD had seized 30 luxury vehicles under Ops Luxury since January, with Mercedes-Benz recording the highest number of seizures.
