RTD suspends online vehicle ownership transfer services nationwide
KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (RTD) has suspended its online vehicle ownership transfer service effective today (May 25), covering all digital platforms, including its public portal, kiosks, and service providers such as MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
RTD director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the immediate measure was taken following complaints, including on social media, over cases involving ownership transfers carried out without the knowledge of registered owners.
“The RTD takes this matter seriously, particularly those involving maintenance records and the safety of vehicles registered in the system,” he said in a statement today.
He said all ownership transfer transactions involving individual and private company vehicles must now be conducted at JPJ counters.
For individual ownership transfers, transactions can be completed on the same day at state and branch offices, while applications involving private companies will require five to seven working days for verification and approval upon submission of complete documents.
He added that only the Temporary Ownership Transfer System (STMS) remained operational via the eAuto channel.
However, the permanent transfer system through eSerahan Tukar Milik (eSTM) has been suspended, and all parties, including used car dealers, must now process such applications at JPJ offices.
