Shehu ABG Clinches Kaduna PDP Gov Ticket

Hon. Usman Bawa Shehu, popularly known as ABG, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 general elections in Kaduna State.

ABG secured a landslide victory during the party’s governorship primary election held in the state defeating his closest rival, Hon. Haruna Kajuru AG.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Lawal, said ABG polled 124,170 votes, while Kajuru scored 22,010 votes.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, ABG described the victory as a defining moment in the political history of Kaduna, saying the mandate belonged to all party members and the people of the state.

He thanked PDP leaders, elders, women, youths and stakeholders across the 23 local government areas for the confidence reposed in him.

“This victory is not for Hon. Usman Bawa ABG alone. It is a victory for every struggling family seeking hope, every unemployed youth seeking opportunity, every farmer praying for security and every citizen dreaming of a peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State,” he said.

The PDP flag bearer also extended an olive branch to other aspirants, urging party members to close ranks and work together towards reclaiming power in the state in 2027.

ABG expressed concern over the security situation in Kaduna State, lamenting the growing cases of banditry, kidnappings and attacks on communities.

According to him, insecurity has forced many farmers away from their farmlands while businesses continue to suffer due to fear and uncertainty.

He assured residents that security would be the top priority of his administration if elected governor.

ABG said his government would work closely with security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, vigilante groups and local communities to restore peace across the state.

“No meaningful development can take place where there is insecurity, and that is why security will remain our top priority,” he added.

He further pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on fairness, justice and accountability, assuring residents that no tribe, religion or region would be marginalised under his leadership.
