White House checkpoint shooting: Suspect killed, reports say

WASHINGTON — A shooter who fired at Secret Service officers near the White House on Saturday evening was shot and later died, according to a statement the agency gave to U.S. media. The agency said that a bystander was also struck during the exchange of fire, but did not disclose the victim’s condition.
