Woman assaulted by husband after refusing to give him RM30 for drugs
KUCHING: A security guard has been arrested for assaulting his wife after she refused to give him RM30 to buy drugs.
Saratok police chief Deputy Superintendent Mathew Manggie said the 26-year-old man was arrested following a report lodged by his wife.
In the report, the woman claimed that the incident took place in Krian, Saratok, on May 21.
He said the suspect became aggressive after the victim refused to give him the RM30 he had requested to purchase drugs.
“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered injuries to both eyebrows and her left cheek.
“Following the report received, police launched an investigation and arrested the suspect, who later surrendered himself,” he said in a statement today.
He said the couple had been married since 2020 and have a 5-year-old daughter.
“Urine screening tests found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act,” he said.
