Three arrested after allegedly trying to ram cops
KAJANG: Police arrested a local man and two local women after they allegedly attempted to ram a police team during an operation in Dusun Tua, Hulu Langat, last night.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received information at about 9.30pm regarding an incident involving a team from the Tampin district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department.
“The policemen discharged their firearms after coming under threat while attempting to arrest three suspects and stop a vehicle at Jalan Batu 15 1/4, Dusun Tua, Hulu Langat.
“They subsequently detained a local man and two local women inside the vehicle,” he said in a statement.
Naazron said checks revealed that the first suspect had six criminal records and three narcotics-related records, the second suspect had four criminal records and 11 narcotics-related records, while the third suspect had six criminal records and two narcotics-related records.
He added that the vehicle was found to be using a fake registration number.
“Also seized were several mobile phones and vehicle remote controls believed to be linked to cases being investigated by the Tampin district police headquarters,” he said.
Naazron said the case is being investigated under Sections 307 and 186 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and obstructing a public servant from carrying out official duties.
An offence under Section 307 carries a jail term of up to 10 years and may also include a fine, while an offence under Section 186 carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both.
